Open Systems Team
Services Provided:
- Procurement and installation of workstations, software, printers, etc.
- Maintain software, updates, security patches, virus protection, etc, on all workstations.
- Repair, maintenance, and inventory of workstations, monitors, laptops, and assorted computer equipment.
- Serve as a member of the OCIO Disaster Recovery Team.

The OCIO Desktop Support Unit's primary function is to install and maintain workstation equipment and software for the Division of OCIO. Workstations are imaged using Symantec Ghost and are set for nightly, automatic Windows updates. We also utilize a Symantec Norton anti-virus server to assure the virus definition files are current and scans are automatically performed. No workstation backups are performed.
Workstation associated services include specialized client applications, various operating systems, personal productivity software, electronic mail, personal application development software, network access software, terminal emulation software, internet access software, and network protocols.
Laptop, PDA, and printer support is also provided.
As a member of the OCIO Disaster Recovery Team we provide support for the Incident Command Center and provide lead support for the OCIO workstation infrastructure if necessary.
Server Services Provided:
- Provides Server Support to Agencies. The Server Support Team provides all level of expertise to agencies. The support includes installation for Operating Systems and all software packages. Operating Systems supported are Linux/Unix and Windows Operating Systems.
- Maintenance of Servers includes advance level troubleshooting, updates, patch management, virus protection and configuration for optimum performance.
- Procurement and installation of servers and all associated software.
- Provides expert level assistance and direction in the research, design and deployment of networking environments to ensure optimum performance of the network.
- Backup of all data housed at the 501 facility.
The Server Support Team provides expert level assistance and support to all agencies of the State of Nebraska. Our team currently provides support in varying aspects of all server configurations.
The Team is comprised of experts and continually works to increase our knowledge base. In addition we work closely with our customer base to ensure the absolute best configurations.
