Description
Web Application Development involves analysis, design, development, deployment, and support of Internet/Web applications.
The first step in this service is to establish a charter, which defines the scope and responsibilities for this service. Options are presented to the customer. These options could include:
- Purchasing a solution
- Developing a customized solution
- Sharing existing solutions
The next step in this service is approval to proceed with a solution. The design/development phase may include:
- Creation of a project plan
- Development and presentation of a prototype application
- Communication of project status on a regular pre-defined basis
- Skill acquisition and staff augmentation of Office of the CIO staff as appropriate using established procedures
- System and/or infrastructure design
- Database design and development
- Coding or acquisition of the software
- Assistance with the development of a test plan
- Creation of test data and expected results
- Coordination with other Office of the CIO services such as data storage and platform requirements
- Training
- Testing
- Conversion of existing data when appropriate
- Accessibility and usability reviews
- Obtainment of customer approval to implement
- Implementation of software application and processes
- Post implementation support (24x7 on-call support)

Customers realize these cost savings through business process improvement and increased efficiency because, in most cases, an efficient Internet application reduces a customer’s utilization of paper and improves staff productivity by increasing the availability and access to data.
